W. Indies 1862 interesting Old Time collection A quite interesting collection of mint and used stamps featuring the colonies of Antigua, British Guiana and Barbados with interest in shades, cancellations and some varieties all neatly mounted on 6 quadrille pages: Firstly is Antigua which has what appears to be SG 6a - an unused and apparently imperforate example of the 1863 1p, wmk small star, and if so a world rarity, (unsure therefore not counted in the valuation) also a superb mint example of the 1882 wmk CA 6p green perf. 14 with full lightly hinged OG (SG 500 pounds, apprx $1,000) plus several used shade & perforation varieties, finally a selection of mint examples of the 1908 issues to the 1s. The second group features British Guiana with a selection of only 3 stamps but all scarcer 1860 ship issues – the 4c blue (with misplaced perf variety), the 7c pink on thin paper both mint with OG and the 24c VF used (total catalog 775 pounds (apprx $1550), last comes Barbados with a selection of Britannia issues a couple of which are mint. An interesting group, with several better stamps and an ideal lot for the specialist with time and knowledge to explore further.
