The heavy stock cards are about 3 5/8" wide by 4" high (92mm x 103mm) and there is a gold, hand drawn, single line border which is set in about 1/2" from each outer edge. Thickness of card stock is ≈ 0.012" and is smooth finished on front. There are slight hinge remnants on the backs of the cards. The plate proofs themselves are exquisite on very thin India paper. The Scott 2006 United States Specialized Catalogue has this to say: "Hybrids are plate proofs of all issues before 1894 which have been cut to shape, mounted and pressed on large cards to resemble large die proofs.
