This is a trial color proof of the 1887 Plimpton 30 cent Hamilton issue. Blue on white paper. This is old Thorp number T106a and is on Thorp's size 4-1/2 envelope (3-3/8" x 5-7/8"), knife 49, watermark No.7. For reference this die is Scott die #U55. The piece is in excellent condition with original gum, but a partially stuck down flap, a 1/2" split in the fold at the top left edge, and a very minor spot of toning (not visible in the photo) on the front. Light pencil ID marks on the back.
