About 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain First Day Covers each bearing three Guernsey stamps cancelled on first day of issueJS(CC)81 & JS(CC)82 from our Battle of Britain mini series each bearing three Guernsey 60th Anniversary cancelled on the first day of issue. The stamps depict a Bristol Blenheim, Hawker Hurricane, Boulton Paul Defiant II, Gloster Gladiator, Bristol Beaufighter II and Supermarine Spitfire IIC.JS(CC)81 has artwork showing No 249 Squadron Hawker Hurricane flown by James Nicolson VC ablaze while pressing home his attack on a Bf 110 - with the Victoria Cross medal shown actual size on the cover.JS(CC)82 has artwork showing Supermarines Spitfires of No 92 Squadron engaging Bf 109s - with the Distinguished Flying Medal and Bar shown actual size on the cover in recognition of Don Kingaby of No 92 Squadron earnt the reputation as a Bf109 'Specialist' and was awarded the DFM and two Bars by the end of the war. The Guernsey stamp shows a Spitfire of No 92 Squadron which ties in with the cover.Only 150 sets were cancelled and issued as per the image below.
